Museum Song, 2006
This body of work seeks to reference the layers of history within the Old Museum Building along Gregory Terrace. Amongst the grime and peeling paint, figures emerge from the layers of memories steeped in the walls. As renovations begin to take shape within the building I want to capture this transition; the exposing of the past and present before the walls have been repainted, layers of dust cleared away and the old piano moved out.

Built over 120 years ago, the building is now heritage-listed. Previously the space was used for performances in the Concert Hall and then housed the Museum and later the Art Gallery until 1986. Now the studios are used as rehearsal spaces for community groups and orchestras. Nevertheless, remnants of the buildings history such as disused museum cabinets and empty display cases still lie tucked away. Waiting to be rediscovered.
