Semi-Finalist Gender Gaze Exhibition, Brisbane Festival 2016

I am a semi-finalist in the Gender Gaze Exhibition as part of the 2016 Brisbane Festival. The exhibition runs from 15-24 September at Metro Arts. The photograph being exhibited is ‘Tea Party: Anna’s-28th-and-a-half-year birthday pantomime’ and my artist statement reads: ‘I decided to stage a tea party with my childhood toys. While it was fun, the process also raised questions about gender roles and repeating learned behaviours.’

As part of being a semi-finalist my photograph was also shown on a Billboard!

Clayton Utz Launch Art Award, 2014

This is Anna’s second time as a finalist in the Clayton Utz Launch Art Award, an award for Queensland artists. Her photographic artwork ‘He Ate Up the Sky’ was selected along with forty-three other finalists.

‘He Ate Up the Sky’ plays with double exposure on medium format film mixed with a circular poem overlay. The work will hang in the Clayton Utz offices for one year and is for sale.

My video work ‘Travelling House’ is installed in the shop front windows of the Judith Wright Centre in Brisbane, during the month of October 2011 and was selected as part of Optica12. ‘Travelling House’ features footage from my trip to Israel in 2010 superimposed over an old house in Brisbane. Themes of the journey and diaspora are explored.

Feel free to wander by and have a look, or view the video below. Optica12 was curated by Synoptik.
